January Edition
This month, we’re discussing the power of small, intentional changes that support us on our lifelong journey. From mastering the perfect squat to reflecting on life's adventures and embracing challenges like our unforgettable sunset/full moon paddleboard experience, this post is all about growth—in body, mind, and spirit. Whether you’re here for fitness tips, personal insights, or stories of adventure, I hope you leave feeling inspired to make your own mindful shifts.
Mastering the Squat
The squat is a foundational movement that strengthens your lower back, glutes, and quads. It’s essential for both workouts and daily life, helping you move safely and efficiently.
Key Tips for a Proper Squat:
1. Hips First: Push your hips back as if sitting in a chair, keeping your weight in your heels.
2. Knees Over Ankles: Keep your knees aligned and avoid letting them pass your toes.
3. Neutral Spine: Maintain a slight curve in your lower back throughout the movement.
4. Knees Aligned: Ensure your knees track with your toes and don’t collapse inward.
Start with bodyweight squats and progress as your form improves. A strong squat is a step toward better fitness and function.
A Note to My Teenage Self
If I could meet my teenage self, I’d say: “It’s okay to not have all the answers. You’re stronger than you know, and the challenges you face will shape the person you’re meant to become. Be patient, and trust the process.” I’d also remind my younger self to embrace the journey rather than rushing to the destination.
What would you say to your younger self? Reflecting on this can highlight just how far you’ve come.
Sunset Full Moon Paddleboarding
Our sunset full moon paddleboard adventure was unforgettable. Balancing on the water while the sun set and the full moon rose pushed us beyond our comfort zones.
Some overcame fears, others embraced the challenge of the open water, but everyone discovered new strength. It was a reminder that growth happens when we embrace discomfort and celebrate the journey together.
Closing Thoughts
Wellness isn’t just about clean eating and working out—it’s about moving with purpose, reflecting on your growth, and embracing challenges that inspire you. Here’s to pushing boundaries and celebrating every step of the way.
