Day 5. Who wants to sleep in? before we continue the Shift...
WOO HOO today is SLEEP IN day! We've packed a lot into our first 4 days, so think of this morning as a rest morning. We will back to the rooftop tomorrow morning. Enjoy a little sleep in, breakfast will still be ready around the same time, but at least you don't have to get up and workout first.
If you've been missing a fancy morning coffee, today may be the day to walk up to Bucerias Cafe, for a latte, or frappe, or whatever you fancy coffee lovers drink.
Todays out of house adventure is a hike up El Cerro Del Mono (Monkey Mountain) with our lovely guide José. The hike is an out-and-back, with a distance of just over 3km each way from Higuera Blanca central plaza (6km roundtrip).Climb Monkey Mountain for the breathtaking 360-degree views of the Pacific coastline, Punta de Mita, and inland mountains.
The hike is rated as easy-moderate for the half, and moderate-strenuous for the 2nd half, due to some steep segments and the 1,050-ft. ascent.The first 1,000 feet of elevation gain is made gradually over three kilometres. The last 50-ft. ascent is a straight-forward boulder scramble to the top. But the spectacular views are worth it.
We encourage everyone to wear runners, NOT flip flops, and to pack water, sunscreen, bug spray, and a snack for this adventure.
This hike is best done before the heat of the day, so we will aim to leave the house around 830 am, to catch our ride to the starting point in Higuera Blanca. I'm sure our driver will be ok if you need finish your coffee along the way.
After our amazing hike, its your time. Maybe today is your day for a well deserved massage! The pool or ocean will feel amazing by the time we finish our hike. However you decide to spend your afternoon, is up to you. Rochelle and Kathy are happy to share some of our favourite little gem restaurants for lunch and dinner, as usual.
Tonights post dinner rooftop session is, Yoga Nidra. Rochelle will take you through a beautiful yoga sleep meditation. You will be conscious as she moves you through states of deep relaxation. Unlike full sleep you will be guided through the physical body, energy body, mental body, and wisdom body. All you have to do is lie on your back and listen. The easiest and most relaxing yoga ever. Truth, I've never been awake for more then the first few minutes. Yoga Nidra has become my go to, on nights I can't turn my brain off to fall asleep. (Ask Rochelle nicely, she may even forward you a yoga nidra clip, that you can take & use over and over, once you're back home.)
